HS math and science videos from BLOSSOMS and MIT

Blended Learning Open Source Science or Math Studies (BLOSSOMS) is a free repository of video modules for high school math and science classes. The ultimate goal is to gather a large body of content generated by gifted volunteer teachers from around the world.

Resources currently available on the site were provided by MIT faculty and PhD students, and include resources in mathematics, physics and biology. The website is growing, and over the coming months there will be BLOSSOMS video modules created by educators in Jordan and Pakistan – all available in English.  Here’s one by an MIT postdoctoral student called The Science of Soap Bubbles.

What is plagiarism?

When you include research in your research paper or your essay for a class assignment, you need to be clear about which ideas are yours and which you have included that come from someone else.  If you don’t do this, you are guilty of plagiarism.   Sometimes it is difficult to know whether to cite your source or to consider the information to be general knowledge. Try this quiz to help you better understand what plagiarism is and what it is not.  Keep in mind that the answer is not always clearly “yes” or “no”, but the quiz will explain.
