Islamic Empires

This is the Qur'an, the holy book of Islam. It contains 114 chapters, each about something that pertains to Islamic society. It is considered to be the word of Allah, just like the Holy Bible is in Christianity, and the Torah is in Judaism. The Qur'an was said to have been related to Mohammed by the Angel Gabriel over twenty two years while Mohammed was the messenger of Allah. Because the Qur'an is said to be the word of Allah, it's meaning can't be translated completely into other languages because Arabic is the language in which Muslims speak, learn, and pray. [1][2]

For our project, we used WikiSpaces to fuel our research. This was a helpful tool because we could compile our data into categorized web pages, then organize that information into an easy-to-read, yet revealing and enlightening view. To visit our Wiki, click here.

To access our view discussing culture, economy, society, and religion, click here.

To access a MindNode containing the basics of the religion of Islam, click here.

This is the Islamic Empires video. It was created by StoneCold, Joshinja, and JFrizzle. It was uploaded onto StoneCold's very own Youtube account. Here, the viewer will be immersed in ancient history. The video discusses the Umayyad dynasty, the Abbasid dynasty, and the Mongol invasions. A timeline is also present.

The Arabic words above, translated into English, read: "Mohammed, peace be upon him." Every prophet of Islam was regarded very highly, so whenever one of their names was uttered, the words "peace be upon him" must appear after. The prophets of Islam include the prophets of Judaism and Christianity: Noah, Moses, Jesus, Abraham, and Muhammad. [1]

The Umayyad Mosque is one of the earliest mosques that was ever built. It was constructed on the site of a Christian basilica between 709 and 715 C.E. It is in Damascus, Syria, which was the capital of the Umayyad Empire. [1]
